Smart City Venture Dorm Accelerator

Flinders University's New Venture Institute and Adelaide Smart City Studio have partnered to create an Accelerator Program for innovators, entrepreneurs and existing startups who's businesses drive change to create a smarter, better connected city.

With a ground-breaking gig-city investment, a world class reputation as a learning city and an entrepreneurial ecosystem that is sparking with potential, Adelaide is well on the way to becoming a leading smart city. Do you have the goods to be part of this exciting new landscape?

The Accelerator Program offers participants: 

  • Change to win up to $10,000 in cash prizes
  • Mentors from SA’s top technology companies
  • Winning teams pitch to the Adelaide Smart City Studio Steering Committee and other key influencers in Government and Council

The Accelerator program will provide a vehicle for researchers to be linked to innovators and new business models to be tested in a controlled environment. The program is a hands-on, learner-centred, inquiry based, immersive and experiential process. Teams will use principles such as Lean Startup, Customer Development and the Business Model Canvas.

The program is open to teams with the following Smart City areas of focus:

  • Smart Energy: Digital Management of Energy
  • Smart Buildings: Automated Intelligent Buildings
  • Smart Mobility: Intelligent Mobility
  • Smart Technology: Seamless Connectivity
  • Smart Infrastructure: Digital Management of Infrastructure
  • Smart Governance and Smart Education: Government-on-the-Go
  • Smart Healthcare: Intelligent Healthcare Technology
  • Smart Citizen: Civic Digital Natives, enhanced lifestyle choices
